Does this game happen to require use of the up and down arrow keys, or just the left and right ones? I’ve heard great things about the story but my keyboard’s busted.

(1 edit)

You can move on the map and select choices by clicking on them instead of using the arrow keys. There's one (nonconsequential) choice near the end where you might be stuck with fewer options, but I think you can still complete the game.

lol

I have written a spoiler free and comprehensive review of the game here.

this story really goes places.

excellent writing, really appreciated angel having POTS haha, the small details like that were great. laughed at the comment on angel's art where the person said "im not a furry BUT" hahaha, too real. great game, amazing post-game extras, too!

This is peak

Thank you for making this game.

It is truly something special.

autism be damned my boy can work a shrimp tank

ty, Homie, peachy and desesseintes for a game - really atmospheric thing

** SPOILER **

music and visuals were trying to point like Lee's a bad guy and made me think that he's just shy weirdo who tries to help, but not a maniac (too obvious to be true). And then it flipped to the opposote and once more back. Still not sure about him and would I trust him as Angel, but at least there's good ending for them :)

ps: mid dialogue save'd be nice (im used to renpy)

Homie,

Thank you for making such an amazing game.  I connected with Angel way too much.  I never saw so much of myself in one character before.  Turns out, I have adhd too, just like Angel.  If I never played this game, I never would of researched inattentive adhd, and I never would of seeked out a doctor to get tested.  Thank you for bringing awareness of adhd to me.

** SPOILER **

hey, I'd like to report a bug on where Brandon picks a number, I can't really pick one, the arrows are bugged and all I can pick is number 1, also forgot to mention midway, the controls are bugged and are not working as intended, esc makes the dialog go faster, z and x does the same. I really can't progress further because of this. Hope you'll see my comment cuz this is genuinely a peak game and I want to finish it

update; I wasn't using the key button, but the escape button is still bugged and only makes the dialog go faster rather then going to the menu. Again, peak game.

You can only open the menu using the escape key when Angel is able to walk around. When you're in the middle of cutscenes or dialogue, it is true that pressing the escape key only speeds up the dialogue.

ohh, thanks mate 👌

This game disturbed me but in a good way if I'm not contradicting myself

holy peak

Yooo this one is actually peak, love it !

Loved it! Looking forward to more games from you, if you ever create more! 💜

I watched Manly's let's play of this and here are my thoughts:

- Loved the writing! Being an AuDHDer watching this felt like a treat. Very relatable.

- Great job with the characters' expressions and little mannerisms. Angel chewing on their (?) hoodie strings is precious. Their art is beautiful too. The little animations are cool!

- The scene girl is adorable 🥺

(SPOILERY THOUGHTS BELOW)

- Is Angel trans/non-binary? I kind of assumed right away based on the design and name, and the end bit made me even more convinced.

- Lee's upbringing gave me cult vibes, not sure if I'm way off. Also autism vibes. I really liked him honestly, he was super nice in a chill/deadpan kind of way. Up to a certain point anyway...

- I was rooting so hard for romance. I'm not sure I got what I wanted though... Before the Revelations, it really did seem like a potentially sweet relationship that raised some interesting ethical questions. Getting close and personal like that would be a HUGE no-no for anyone involved in healthcare. But it also didn't feel... morally wrong? to me.

- My heart longs for a follow-up game. I think those two post-true end would make for interesting side characters, at least. I'm so curious what their dynamic ends up being long term. Honestly, didn't expect that to be the true end at all.

the best game i've played in the last few months! I will recommend this to my friends.

The game Is great, i was wondering if i could make a italian translation of the game, and if i can how can i do It ?

Glad you enjoyed the game. I believe some of the fan translation teams who have made patches for the game used a tool called "Translator++" but that's about all I know. The unofficial translators have handled everything else themselves.

ok, i thank you very much for the information.

muy bueno, juegazo, muy memorable <3

Didn’t leave a review but I enjoyed a playthrough a while ago. Game struck really deep with me, helped me find a sense of peace within myself that I’d been looking for over the years. Community is also really tightknit and I’ve been part of it for a while now, makes enjoying this game feel even better. Hoping for more works from you, homie <3 Thank you

It's peak I'm afraid. Loved it, still have to get the second ending but it was freaking superb

While comments are greatly appreciated, please remember to put a spoiler warning in yours if applicable.

If you haven't played the game yet, please be advised there are spoilers in this comments section.

Thank you.

Glad you enjoyed the game. I am going to delete your comment for its untagged spoiler because some people tend to look at the comments section before deciding whether to download or not, but thank you anyway!

Game felt extremely personal. Took me a while to finish cause I had to stop cause it felt like you were putting a mirror to what I've felt a lot. Amazing. Hoping for a sequel or just more in general from you.

I loved the game. I hope I get to see more work from you in the future <3

this game was amazing and really made me feel for the characters. they felt like real people and their personalities + relationship felt startingly realistic. it's a beautiful exploration of mental health and a complex relationship. it left me with both a pit in my stomach and boundless hope. this is truly a work of art and i hope others will discover and experience this fame. the government should give you a million dollars to continue making thought-provoking pieces of work like this!

allthis to say; your game is amazing and i really hope you're having a good day!

Hi Homie

Just wanted to say I really really did love your game, by far, my favorite visual novel- made me laugh, cry, rage- I LOVED IT; i came looking for bronze, and found diamonds; Now I kinda feel void because it's over, but still, best 3 hours of my life- you absolutely cooked; do you have any future projects that involves Clinical Trial? Maybe a sequel or something like that?

Came here from a Let's Play and the writing is so tight in this game, my god. The slow growth of suspense and particularly Angel and Lee's interpersonal dynamic make for a tense and engrossing plot. The simpler style for the character designs makes the rich backgrounds and interesting animations more obvious while still giving a really good idea of what the character is like. I absolutely love it.

Thank you. You can save whenever you can walk around, just press the Escape key.

wehh <w> I didn't think of doing that. My b.

hai homie! it’s joe, just wondering what version of rpg maker you used to make the game since i'm planning to make my own in the future ^.^❤️ adore the game btw..

Hi Joe,

I used RPGMaker MZ because that is the only version available for Mac. If you’re on Windows, the version of RPGMaker that has more free plugins is MV, but MZ is the version that is currently being updated and has more built-in features.

I believe that there are a few features that are specific to MZ that I used to make Clinical Trial that are not native to MV. That being said, Clinical Trial was my first game and first time ever using gamemaking software in general, so my experience is very limited.

Best of luck on your game!

really vague spoilers? i think?

when i played this i thought it was gonna revolve around a "secretly evil hospital"-type plot or something of that like if u know what i mean, so this was very refreshing. i really liked the relationship and characters of lee and angel. also liked the endings a lot, i can understand the decisions made in both of them though i want to see lee happy. anyways i'm very glad i played this, looking forward to anything else you might make in the future

also FUCK YOU BRANDON

i've never never played a game in rpg maker i think. and the ending that i got was like.."DAMN just like that?" and later i saw the ending 1 and was like "what" so i spended the whole day with this feeling of dissatisfaction. Conclusion, i liked this, ¿will we see lee and angel again?

I truly loved this game, the story, the characters, the music. I enjoyed every minute of it, which is why I wanted more people to be able to enjoy it [which is why I decided to create the fan Spanish translation].

I really look forward to your future work <3. I can't wait to see what else you create. Thanks for everything!

thinly veiled spoilers ahead: Beware

edit 1 day later: Still thinkin about this game. frustrated there isn't more but acknowledging that it's already the perfect size.

That was such a good game, forgot I downloaded it like a month ago from a tiktok clip, was clearing my files for storage for Ark: Survival evolved when I came across the ZIP for it. decided I'd play it while I downloaded that. Some guy in the comments here spoiled it but I managed to divert that spoiler in my own dumb way and spent the entire game waiting for something that wouldn't ever happen. really enjoyed it, a nice surprise, however in terms of the choice it's like coughing baby versus hydrogen bomb. Directly after dropping the bomb that no one cares, asking forgiveness is a freebie, even if it is sort of a gilded cage.

I actually quite understand your feeling. However, I'm content enjoying the various comics Homie posts on Twitter. They're not canon [not entirely], but they're quite enjoyable and provide a bit more story.

ts is tuff yo......

How do i full screen

(1 edit)

F4 fullscreened it for my Windows playtester in the past. Does that work for you?

I saw fanart of this game on twitter, and I had a boring evening to kill and randomly decided to play this. This game is lifechanging. It has amazing characters and atmosphere, and the writing really hits. It's a refreshing story using a unique structure that is very effective. I went in with some expectations of what it would be like based on the title and summary, but it took a completely different turn which was super fun and interesting! I'm absolutely hooked and I love Angel and Lee. Both endings are great in different ways, and not cut-and-dry as 'good' or 'bad' endings.

I did encounter a gamebreaking glitch (idk how) by pressing the save button too quickly after pausing the game? It said something like "command not available", but it didn't ruin the experience for me since I recently saved before that. Maybe it's a bug to look into?

But yes. 100 times yes. This is a perfect short rpg that accomplishes exactly what it set out to achieve. 5/5 goty. Please play it!!
